Agentic AI is rapidly changing the face and feel of purchasing for each retailers and consumers, based on a report on agentic commerce from management consultancy firm Kearney.
The report, “Agentic Commerce: From Brand Loyalty to Bot Logic,” found 73% of consumers are conversant in AI tools and 60% of shoppers expect to use agentic AI in the next 12 months.
The report goes on to say that retailers which are unprepared for this shift face massive risk. Much of that risk will come from cross-platform “super-agents” that operate beyond the control of retailers.
These cross-platform bots represent a seismic shift for retailers, that are accustomed to specializing in the needs of their customers. In an agentic-commerce world, bots will encourage shoppers to look elsewhere for higher deals or a greater fit.
